Job Description – Marketing Coordinator

Summary 

The Quilting Bee, Inc. is the region’s largest quilt shop and sewing machine dealer, and continues to grow. As a result, the Company needs to deliver excellent customer experiences through advanced marketing techniques. 

Skill requirements

  • 1 Year of Small Business Marketing Experience
  • Creative, flexible, and independent working style
  • Working Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficiency in Adobe Lightroom & Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator
  • 6+ Months Experience in WordPress 
  • Working Knowledge of ecommerce sites
  • Experience with Square point-of-sale and website or similar platform
  • Proficient Knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, YouTube, & Pinterest

Specific Tasks

  •  Keep the company WordPress website up to date with current events, specials, promotions, and prices. Constantly work to improve SEO performance, reduce loading times, update assets such as images, copy, and branding, prevent downtime, add and update plugins, and overall allow for an easy and seamless customer experience.
  • Create advertising campaigns, both for long term awareness and for short term events, using the Google Ads Platform and Facebook Ads Platform.
  •  Create assets and manage relationships with print advertisers, such as The Inlander, Huckleberry Press, and others.
  • Create in-store promotional materials, such as signs, price tags, etc.
  • Manage the company’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Tik Tok, and Pinterest. Create regular content for each.
  • Use store camera and other means to take appealing pictures & videos of products, the store itself, events, quilts, and anything else that may come up.
  • Edit pictures, videos, and promotional materials using Adobe Suite, Canva, primarily Lightroom, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects.
  •  Create and manage the Quilting Bee Newsletter using Mailchimp, which is sent out to over 18,000 email addresses and promotes various upcoming events, new products, store updates, sales, etc.
  • Film and edit promotional videos for The Quilting Bee YouTube Channel, primarily Sewing Machine overviews and tutorials. Also create Thumbnails, subtitles, descriptions, end cards, etc.
  •  Collaborate with the Livestream Host to film the weekly What’s Buzzing at The Bee! Facebook Live, which showcases new products, events, sales, etc. 
  • Collaborate with the Livestream Host to run the weekly Whatnot Live show, to sell a variety of items in a livestream format. Add products, promote the show, produce the livestream, and assist in packaging the sold items for shipment.
  •  Collaborate with other employees to create a full list of the classes, events, and specials. Publish these items on the calendar page of the main Quilting Bee website.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and running several events throughout the year, the largest of which is the annual WSQ Quilt Show each Fall.
  • Assist in solving any technical issues relating to the website or adjacent matters.
  • Regularly update the Quilting Bee’s Google listing with current information.
  • Answer customer questions that are sent in via Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Emails, Phone Calls, Etc.
  •  Manage relationships with outside marketing agencies and adjacent companies.
  • Track analytics, communicate results and present strategies to management.

  • BA in Marketing or similar discipline. 

Compensation 

  • $19 – $23 an hour. Compensation will be based on experience.

Position Summary
The Quilting Bee, Inc. is the region’s largest sewing machine dealer, and we are continuing to grow. As a
result, we need to expand our Machine Department to meet the needs of our growing customer base. You
will have the opportunity to learn from and work with a team of knowledgeable Machine Sales Associates
and one of the region’s premier Sales Managers with over 15 years of experience.
The Machine Sales and Installation Associate is responsible for selling sewing machines, delivering and
setting up machines and sewing tables, and installing quilting and embroidery machines off-site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
General Skill Requirements
 Valid driver’s license.
 Reliable mode of transportation.
 Ability to interpret illustrated parts diagrams of machines.
 Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and schematics of machines and tables.
 Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
 Ability to disassemble and reassemble complex components.
 Ability to communicate to and/or educate staff and customers on proper machine use and
maintenance.
 Ability to lift at least 100 lbs and to bend and stoop while working on equipment.

Specific Tasks
 Sell all machine department products.
o Maintain a basic understanding of product lines and be prepared to demonstrate the use of
all current machines.
o Understand sales pricing and available financing options.
o Perform regular follow-up with customers on leads list.
 Assist with Department merchandising to promote sales.
o Restock inventory and communicate ordering needs to Machine Department Sales
Manager.
o Maintain the Department for cleanliness.
o Assist with intake and stocking of new machine inventory.
 Understand the store’s sales goals and work to achieve them.
 Maintain classroom machines for cleanliness and readiness of use.
 Provide input on store policies affecting the Department.
 Any other tasks deemed necessary by the Store Manager or Machine Department Sales Manager.
 Follow all manufacturers’ mandated protocols.

 Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules.
 Promote and sell additional products and/or services.
 Operate a walk-behind forklift.
 Assemble and troubleshoot sewing tables and frames.
 Drive delivery van.
 Communicate information to coworkers and customers in a clear, timely, and professional
manner.

Customer Service
This position will deliver and set up products to customers in the field and sell machine products on site.
The Associate is expected to represent the Quilting Bee in a professional and positive manner. The
Associate must provide customer service that exceeds customer expectations.
 Provide superior customer service to ALL customers of The Quilting Bee.
o Greet customers as they enter the store and offer assistance.
o Recommend and help with selection of purchases including fabric, pattern/books, thread,
and notions.
o Complete transactions including sales, returns, class registrations, and repair intake in
POSIM (Point of Sale system).
o Stay knowledgeable on store inventory including location and use of products.

Warehouse/Tech Assistant

The Quilting Bee, Inc. is the region’s largest sewing machine dealer and quilting fabric dealer in the region. We also carry a large selection of fabrics and sewing notions.

Our Warehouse/Tech Assistant is responsible for assisting in receiving of product and warehousing, with a significant duty being inventorying the sewing, quilting and embroidery machines and verifying they perform to each manufacturer’s standards. The assistant troubleshoots problems and communicates with the staff technicians, the inventory clerk and management. The assistant also inventories trade-in machines and assists in preparing them for sale. On occasion this position will assist delivering sewing tables as well as installing quilting and embroidery machines off-site.

  • Ability to manage, organize and stock inventory
